Lollapalooza was really fun – Liz and I had some much-needed and extended time for catching up, but I doubt I will put my body through this festival ever again. This year attracted 120,000 fools and then narrowly muscled them into Grant Park’s mid-summer roast to broil in a shadeless 98 degrees. It was sole-wrecking, but so worth is to see Bon Iver, the Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, Diplo, Depeche Mode, Atmosphere, Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat for Lashes, the Animal Collective, etc. I also managed to run into old neighbors from my childhood home and a roommate from Ireland. Plus the Velvet Room, Pilsen, and so many yummy meals.
Fountain lights & a busted portrait.
Bat for Lashes – so pretty. Ethereal blend of Bjork and Portishead.
Pilsen brunchtime! We made a mistake getting off at probably the bleakest, most-blighted part of the neighborhood.
Liz as the Lake Michigan tide.
Fleet Foxes! They are cartoons of themselves (always look & dress the same).
Liz excited about Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode! I had to meet Liz after she secured a tight spot up front, but getting through the crowd to her was like being born through the longest birth canal ever.
Outerspace – this set alone was worth all the inconveniences & costs of Lollapalooza.
Dave Gahan, somehow sexy?
